A power outage on Sunday, Dec. 17 at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport caused major delays and flight cancellations, prompting many travelers to rent vehicles to reach their destinations, according to the airport and Georgia Power.

The 11-hour outage was reportedly caused by a fire that caused extensive damage to a Georgia Power underground electrical facility.

Due to the high demand of rental cars, companies like Enterprise and Alamo sold out of rentals. Many rental car companies had to ship new cars to the airport, the article reported.
