The Tampa International Airport's car rental center will open Feb. 14, according to a press statement. The rental center is part of the airport's $2 billion expansion plan.

The rental car building features 2.6 million square feet of total space and will house 16 brands. Customers will have access to vehicle parking and sheltered pickup and drop-off locations. The new center is projected to remove 2.7 million rental car trips per year through the terminals.

The center opens at the same time that the airport's SkyConnect train will begin operations, transporting passengers from the airport terminal to the rental building.

The second phase of the expansion includes construction of a nine-story office building, hotels, stores, gas stations, and an atrium.
