Cross Border Xpress (CBX), the pedestrian bridge that links San Diego and the Tijuana International Airport, is being recognized for its passenger experience at the 44th Air Transport World Awards. The award will be presented at a ceremony in Dublin.
CBX earned the award for safety, convenience, and cost efficiency in servicing over 3.2 million passengers on nonstop flights to over 30 destinations in Mexico.
The rapid passenger growth played a part in airlines opening more routes and creating more destinations from the Tijuana International Airport. Most recently, Hainan Airlines launched a direct route to Beijing, while Volaris opened direct routes to a few cities in Central America.
