Two students at the University of Texas at Austin have launched their own ridesharing app, which offers rides between cities in Texas for as low as $30, the university’s student newspaper The Daily Texan reports.

Krew Rideshare, developed by business freshman Kush Singh and electrical engineering freshman Tanuj Girish, has completed about a thousand rides since it was launched in March — mostly serving university students.

The app lets users request a ride a few days in advance, and pairs them with a driver, all of whom undergo background checks.

The cost of the trip is roughly equivalent to the cost of a Greyhound or Megabus ticket, while offering more privacy.
