Roswell, Ga., city councilors are discussing the idea of adopting a 3% excise tax on rental vehicles, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

The City Council heard and accepted a first reading of the bill, which is expected to generate $100,000 annually. Revenue collected through the ordinance would be allocated for industry, trade, commerce, tourism, and capital projects.

Failure to pay the 3% remittance would result in a 5% penalty of the amount due plus interest.
