Thrifty Car Rental sponsored road safety charity Brake and 8,000 children to take part in the first National Beep Beep! Day in New Zealand, according to Voxy.co.nz.

The event is part of New Zealand's Road Safety Week, to raise awareness of road safety practices among children, parents, and local communities and help reduce road injuries.

A survey conducted by Brake found that 6% of respondents did not use child seats appropriate for children under 7 years old. Brake also found that 20% of respondents with children over 7 but under 4 feet 10 inches did not use height- and weight- appropriate child seats. New Zealand law requires that children under 7 use a child seat.

During Beep Beep! Day, Brake provides resources to educators working with children from 2 to 7 to engage in creative, educational activities, such as poster-making, singing songs, and playing games geared toward teaching about road safety.
