Rental Car Rally is set to return to Los Angeles Friday through Sunday, ending in Las Vegas. The eccentric event sees teams race from a starting point to an end location, with the winning team receiving "a golden gas pump and $500 in loose change."

Teams drive to different checkpoints and collect points for their costumes and navigation skills.

"The checkpoints include abandoned amusement parks, haunted insane asylums, missile silos, dilapidated buildings, ghost towns, waterfalls, giant tree houses, and usually a diner willing to serve people dressed like horses," according to the website.

Teams do not need a rental car to participate.
