In an effort to increase passenger safety, Lyft is implementing two new security measures, the company announced in a blog post.

Drivers on the Lyft platform will now continual be monitored for criminal activity and will immediately be notified of any activity which will bar them from driving. Drivers who do not pass the yearly background check and continuous screenings will be prohibited from driving on the platform. 

Lyft is also taking measures to prevent identity fraud. The enhanced verification process will combine driver's license verification and photographic identification.
