Mazda North American Operations is recalling approximately 262,220 2018-2019 CX-5 compact SUVs and Mazda6 midsize sedans, as well as and 2019 Mazda3 compact sedans because a software error in the powertrain control module may cause the engine to stall.

An unanticipated stall can increase the possibility of a crash.

To remedy the problem, Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the module's software, at no cost to owners.

Owners can reach Mazda customer service at (800) 222-5500, option 4. Mazda’s reference number for this recall is 3719F.
