British Columbia's Passenger Transportation Board released its rules for ride-hailing companies earlier this week, the Vancouver Sun reports.
Ride-hailing groups will not have caps on the number of drivers permitted in B.C. Companies will also not have limits on surge pricing, which go into effect during times of high-volume requests and special events.
The minimum rate set for ride-hailing companies is the same as the taxi flag rate, ranging between 3.25 Canadian dollars ($2.44) and 3.95 Canadian dollars ($2.97). Additionally, ride-hailing groups will not be allowed to offer promotions or discounts that might lower the base rate.
