In 1999 the industry for car rental in Brazil had revenues totaling $1.39 billion.

The car rental market in that country is controlled mainly by a company called Localiza. Its fleet totals about 25,000 vehicles and it has a market share of 30%.

The second largest car rental company in Brazil is called Unidas. American companies Hertz, Avis and Budget are operating in the South American country as well. Hertz runs its facilities directly, whereas Avis and Budget have franchises.
