ATLANTA -- Nothing fuels car rental like a little low-fare carrier competition. So the industry welcomed Delta Air Lines' announcement today that it will launch a new low-fare subsidiary for price-driven travelers in 2003.

The service, using a fleet of 757s, will initially operate in the Northeast-Florida market before expanding across Delta's U.S. network. Most one-way fares will fall between $79 and $299.
