PARK RIDGE, N.J. -- In response to today's lackluster business travel market, Hertz has launched holiday promotions for the leisure and retail segment.

The company's "Last Minute" promotion, available on www.hertz.com through Jan. 6, offers rates as low as $17.99 per day for a weekend rental. In addition, the "Suburban Location" promotion offers daily rates as low as $19 per day ($17 for AAA members) through March 31, 2003.

"In time for the upcoming holidays, we are able to offer 'Last Minute' prices between Dec. 9 and mid-January because of short-term, excess capacity in the industry caused by the seasonal slowdown in business travel," said Brian Kennedy, Hertz' executive vice president of marketing and sales. "However, anyone who needs a rental car during the holidays should book as soon as possible because many rental locations will sell out during the last week of the year," he added.

Kennedy also said that Hertz expects fleet levels and business travel to return to normal levels by the middle of January 2003.
