A National Car Rental employee at Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Airport on Monday discovered what appeared to be a bomb inside a rental car and summoned airport police. But an inspection by the bomb squad revealed that the device was a hoax, according to a news report in the Savannah Morning News.

The car rental service center was evacuated, but the terminal was not. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI are now investigating the case, according to the newspaper.
