PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Avis Rent A Car System and Delta Air Lines have introduced the first remote airport flight check-in kiosk at a rental car location.

The new service lets Delta and Avis customers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport check in for their flights when returning their rental cars. The new kiosks, located at the Avis shuttle bus stop, incorporate Delta's online check-in option in a touch-screen format. After using the check-in kiosk at Avis, customers get dropped off at the terminal and head straight for security with a boarding pass in hand.

The kiosk, developed by I.D. Systems, uses software that ties into Delta's existing Web-based check-in process.

"We want to save Delta customers valuable time when they travel by offering the added convenience of online flight check-in at Avis rental facilities at the airport," said Patrice Miles, vice president of consumer marketing for Delta Air Lines. "The new kiosk's touch-screen interface is simple to use -- Delta customers can quickly navigate through the same screens they use when they check in online at delta.com to print their boarding passes and receipts."

"We are very pleased to be able to offer our customers a more convenient way to check in for their Delta flights," said Scott Deaver, executive vice president of marketing for Cendant Car Rental Group, parent of Avis.
