SAN ANTONIO --- Advantage Rent-A-Car in El Paso, Texas, opened its doors last month as a donation relief station for the community, offering aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Two radio stations broadcast live from the facility as hairdressers and massage therapists provided free service to the displaced Gulf Coast residents.

Also represented were the mayor’s office, the sheriff’s department, the local chapter of the American Red Cross and Progressive Insurance staff, delivering emergency items such as bandages, medication, water, toiletries and clothing.

Johnny Carino’s, and Italian restaurant chain, was serving free hotdogs to donors.

Two 15-passenger vans were filled with donations, and more than $2,200 in cash was raised.
