Over the past five weeks, retail gas prices have fallen a total of 55.2 cents per gallon, with this week’s 10.4 –cent drop bringing the national average to 237.6 cents per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

The current average, however, is still 37.5 cents higher than this time last year.

The Rocky Mountain region saw the biggest drop, 12.2 cents, to 246.4 cents per gallon. The East Coast average is 239.1 cents per gallon after a 10.9-cent decrease.

The lowest regional average is the Midwest at 223.1 cents per gallon, while the West Coast sits at 262.3 cents per gallon. California prices average 265.9 cents per gallon.
