LAS VEGAS --- Alamo Rent A Car is testing an electronic check-in kiosk at McCarran International Airport as it prepares to move into the new consolidated rental facility there at the end of the year.

According to Travel Weekly, the company has also tested the check-in system at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport. Another testing phase is planned for this summer in Orlando before the system is incorporated at other airport locations later in the year.

Customers with a valid driver’s license, major credit card and reservation can use the touch-screen technology at the kiosk in an effort to speed up the check-in process. The screen prints a rental agreement for the customer, who is then directed to the lot.

Rental information can be reviewed and upgraded at the kiosk, including the purchase of many optional items, the report said.

The new system is expected to cut the check-in time in half.

Avis installed a similar remote flight check-in system at one of its locations last June, designed specifically for Delta passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta.
