TORRANCE, Calif. --- The American Car Rental Association and its board of directors have begun a search for an executive director after interim director Neil Abrams stepped down earlier this year.

Abrams agreed to fill the role until ACRA had a foundation with which to work. However, since the onset of the association’s latest incarnation, it has been the desire of the board members and Abrams himself to have a board and director composed entirely of RAC operators rather than vendors or industry consultants.

The executive director selection process has been launched through a series of news releases and e-mail contacts.

ACRA is seeking a candidate who has the wherewithal and industry experience to further build the association. The position, which will report to the board of directors, requires the development of a marketing plan to enhance membership and communication skills with the ability to handle electronic communications.

A compensation package is available, and an incentive bonus will be tied to growth in membership and vendor affiliates. Relocation is not required, though the association says that some travel is likely.

Potential candidates should send an e-mail of interest to dradzis@acerentacar.com.
