Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced today that Greg Stubblefield, longtime Enterprise executive, will become President of Vanguard Car Rental following the completion of Enterprise’s purchase of Vanguard.

On March 30, Enterprise announced it had entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Vanguard, which operates National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car in North America. That transaction is expected to close Aug. 1, 2007.

Stubblefield, 48, currently serves as President of Enterprise’s operations in California and Hawaii. He has held a variety of operating positions of increasing responsibility during his 25-year career with Enterprise. He began his tenure with the company as a management trainee in 1982 after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and starred as a member of the Golden Bears football team.

Immediately following the completion of the transaction, Vanguard Car Rental will operate as a free-standing subsidiary, separate from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Both companies will be owned and operated by the Taylor family of St. Louis, founders and longtime owners of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

“Greg Stubblefield is a proven leader and a trusted advisor,” said Andrew C. Taylor, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise. “On the merits of his performance and his tested skills as an astute, proven business leader, Greg has risen through the ranks of management at Enterprise to become one of our most respected and admired senior executives.”

Currently, Stubblefield is responsible for all Enterprise automotive operations in California and Hawaii, including rental, fleet management (leasing), car sales, commercial truck rental, rideshare services, and several group and regional administrative headquarters.

“My goal is to learn from the dedicated Vanguard employees, and to do what I can to help build upon their success,” said Stubblefield. “The people of Vanguard have worked hard and overcome significant obstacles to remain one of the most admired service providers in the airport rental car market. I intend to help this team leverage the strengths and synergies of the Enterprise transaction in order to take this business to even higher levels of performance.”

For the past several months, Stubblefield has served as a member of an executive steering committee comprised of senior executives from Enterprise and Vanguard who are tasked with managing the process to understand the full strengths and capabilities of the Vanguard business. “In time,” Taylor says, “it will become apparent how best to operate Vanguard and I am confident Greg Stubblefield is the person to lead that process and to grow this business.”

In past years, Stubblefield held the title of Corporate Vice President at Enterprise headquarters in St. Louis, and was later named Senior Vice President of International Operations in charge of expanding Enterprise’s business outside of the United States. Over the course of his years in leadership roles, Stubblefield and the teams reporting to him have won numerous company awards for excellence in operating performance, customer service, and community involvement.

Stubblefield has been involved in numerous charitable organizations throughout his professional life. In addition to leadership roles in the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, he also serves as a board member of the Los Angeles Urban League, and as a member of the executive committees for the California Business Roundtable and California Business for Education Excellence.

Stubblefield will relocate to Tulsa and begin operating from Vanguard’s headquarters in that city.
