An online UK car rental company, Economy Car Rental, has decided to stop offering baby seats as an optional extra for safety reasons, according to a press release by the company.

Instead, renters are being advised to bring their own car seats, especially when traveling with an infant up to nine months old. In the release, the company cites that young infant’s bones are not developed enough to withstand the force of a crash if the child is not seated with the proper restraint.

The company contents that child seats are often abused in rental cars and maintaining their condition can be a difficult task.

It is recommended to parents who want to rent car seats from car seat rental agencies to make sure that their child can fit securely in the seat and is properly restrained. If the seat is labeled with an “E,” the seat meets the United Nations standard regulations.
