A Virginia woman recently filed federal lawsuits against both Zipcar and Flexcar, saying the car sharing companies are discriminating against the disabled, NBC News reports.

She said she wants both companies to modify some of their cars with hand levers for the disabled.

A spinal cord disease has kept her in a wheelchair for 14 years. She says, last June when the woman called Flexcar to make arrangements for the hand levers she uses to drive, the company told her "they don't do that."

According to NBC News, Flexcar said the company had begun working with the Equal Rights Center before the lawsuit. Zipcar also said it had been working to better understand ADA compliancy before the suit.
