The Mercury News reported that a man robbed an Alameda, Calif., RAC, then broke into an Oakland home and assaulted a resident. Later he was fatally shot by an Oakland police officer.

The suspect entered an Enterprise Rent-A-Car business, according to Alameda police. The suspect convinced the clerk he had a gun and took cash, a wallet, car keys and a cell phone. He drove a stolen rental car to Oakland, where he crashed the vehicle.

After breaking into a home and stealing another car, the suspect collided with a police car. He was then fatally shot. The incident is now under investigation.

A warrant had been out for the suspect’s arrest in connection with robberies and carjackings, said The Mercury News.
