Budget Rent A Car customers can receive instant notification whenever a special promotional price is offered that might help save money on Budget car rentals, through a new technology extension of Budget.com called RSS, according to MarketWatch.

RSS, which stands for “Really Simple Syndication,” is a method of distributing online information in real time. Budget customers can set up the Budget RSS feed on whatever home page they use for their other information needs and receive instant alerts for any special pricing offers from Budget for any three travel destinations.

When the customer sees a better rate for a planned trip in the RSS feed window, he or she can click on the link and be taken directly to Budget.com to change a reservation and lock in the extra savings.

John Peebles, vice president of online marketing at Avis Budget Group, Inc., parent company of Budget, says that by setting up a Budget RSS feed, Budget customers now don’t have to come back to the site repeatedly to check for better rates.

The Budget RSS feed is free of charge. Customers can select three travel destinations to monitor for special deals. These destinations can be changed as often as desired, according to MarketWatch. To subscribe, visit budget.com/rss.
