Winter storms in Canada have created a windfall for car rental companies, according to Canada.com.

Due to the recorded amount of 6,158 collisions in December, many customers are seeking to rent because their vehicles are in body shops. For southern Alberta-based Budget Car & Truck rental, the results of the collisions increased the company’s business 15 to 20 percent.

Additionally, customers are keeping the rental cars longer, about 12 to 15 days, because body shops are so backed up.

Other rental companies, such as Discount Car and Truck Rentals at Calgary International Airport, have seen an increase in insurance replacement rentals up to 30 percent.
