From now until June 1, New Yorkers in the Manhattan area will have the opportunity to rent fuel- efficient vehicles for $2 an hour from Mint, a Manhattan-based on-demand car rental company, according to examiner.com. Members of the company will be able to take advantage of the deal Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Licensed drivers who are currently not members of any other car-sharing or on-demand rental company can sign up for the program online and pay a one-time $25 application fee. Drivers who are currently signed up with another program can walk into a Mint office, show their membership card for the other company and the $25 fee will be waived.

Cars available for rent include the Smart Car, Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit and Scion XB. Each car comes with a universal gas card, Bluetooth and EZ Pass tag. Additionally, the company takes on the gas cost; however, the renter is responsible for toll charges.

Mint has 10 locations around the Manhattan area. For more information about the company, please visit www.drivemint.com.
