Citing declining revenue, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is leaving New Mexico’s Four Corners Regional Airport, according to the Daily Times.

The airport’s manager said Enterprise left the airport on Dec. 31. Enterprise’s decision comes after a report showed the number of people departing from the airport decreased 36 percent from 2001 to 2007. Enterprise will still operate at its location off East Main Street in Farmington and is negotiating with the city to provide service to customers at the airport. The airport manager said the maintaining of two separate businesses in town, with two separate locations, wasn’t paying for itself.

Three other rental car companies still have ticket counters and spaces to store their cars after city councilors on Jan. 20 agreed to renew their contracts. Avis Rent-A-Car, Budget Rent-A-Car and Hertz Rent-A-Car each will pay the city $30,000 per year or 10 percent of their gross revenues, whichever is greater.
