The Hertz Corporation and the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) announced today that Hertz has joined the NICB as its newest member. Hertz joins the nearly 1,100 member companies currently working with the NICB.

Hertz operates one of the nation's largest fleet of rental vehicles and NICB membership will help protect that fleet against fraud and theft. By working with the NICB, Hertz will reap the benefits offered by NICB, including:

• Vehicle recovery expertise and data-sharing agreements with law enforcement agencies nationwide

• Access to real-time, prompt and accurate vehicle location/recovery data

• Reduced financial exposure to impound lot vehicle depreciation and vandalism

• International vehicle interdiction expertise

"Hertz has one of the largest fleets in the rental industry and ensuring that it is protected is of paramount importance," commented Hertz President, Scott Sider. "By working with the NICB, we're taking steps to ensure our fleet is available to all our customers, including those renting for insurance replacement purposes. In addition to the services the NICB offers, we're aligning ourselves with our insurance partners in combating insurance related crimes."

"We are very proud to welcome Hertz to the NICB family," said Joe Wehrle, NICB's president and chief executive officer. "NICB members write almost 94 percent of the personal auto insurance in the U.S. and our members include the 31 largest property/casualty insurance companies. With Hertz joining us in the fight against vehicle theft and insurance fraud, we now represent eight of the largest vehicle rental companies in the country. … The more companies we have working with us, the more successful we will be in combating insurance-related crimes."

By joining the NICB, Hertz confirms its commitment to its insurance partners. Hertz serves customers needing to rent cars for insurance replacement needs. Hertz has served the insurance replacement industry for almost 10 years.
