A resurfacing project at the Yakima, Wash. Air Terminal has caused a big drop in business the week of Sept. 5, as much as 90 percent for one company, according to the Yakima Herald-Public.

The resurfacing of the airport's main runway caused Horizon Air to suspend all of its air service.

Business dropped about 90 percent for Hertz Car Rental, one of two rental car companies at the airport.

Hertz, which is still seeing some business from local customers, is running a small crew at the counters.

Budget Rent-A-Car, which also runs an operation at the airport, has asked the airport board if the airport could provide help for the lost business. The board asked the company to provide a formal proposal, but a board member said the board has not received any proposal for help since that meeting.

Hertz Car Rental hopes to make up for the loss of business during the winter, when more people are opting to fly rather than drive across Snoqualmie Pass.
