The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is launching a new plan to help promote car sharing. The program would allow businesses to rent parking spots on public streets and is supported by Mayor Ed Lee and Board President David Chiu, according to The Examiner.

The parking spaces can be rented monthly for $150 and people who park in these designated spots illegally can receive a $100 ticket and their vehicle can be towed.

The program is scheduled to begin this fall.
