HiGear, the San Francisco-based peer-to-peer car sharing company, will expand to Los Angeles beginning Nov. 1, according to Techcrunch.com. The car sharing company said it’s adding about 50-plus cars a month to its fleets of more than 200, and that it plans to be in Portland and San Diego by the end of the year.

The company provides comprehensive liability and collision insurance to the members, and also performs screenings, driver checks and sometimes credit checks. The company states that members can rent high-end vehicles for usually about 50 percent less than commercial rates.
