Lynn Evenchik claims that Avis’ San Diego Lindbergh Field location violated the California Unruh Civil Rights Act when it “denied” her a discount that was being offered to members of two gay and lesbian associations: a gay business association and a gay travel group, according to reports from San Diego News Examiner and 10News of San Diego.

Evenchik, the owner of a travel agency in Tucson, is filing a federal class-action lawsuit against Avis and says that the rental car company was giving discounts of up to 20%. A spokesperson of one of the associations says that anyone is free to join the group and that about 25% of its members are not gay.
