The city council of San Antonio passed a $4.50 per day airport rental car fee that will fund construction of a consolidated rental car facility (conrac) at the San Antonio International Airport, according to a local news source, mysanantonio.com, on March 9.

The fee goes into effect on Apr. 1 and will apply only to customers who rent vehicles at the airport, according to Rich Johnson, airport spokesperson.

The proposed rental facility will be located directly across from Terminal B, eliminating the need for shuttles to ferry customers to and from the rental car pickup locations. Having one main rental hub will make car rental returning easier for customers as well, since the facilities won't be scattered around the airport.
