Hertz Global EV and its partner Evatran will showcase the first wireless charging system for electric vehicles (EVs) in the car rental industry at the New York Auto Show (NYAS). The first car rental company to introduce EVs on three continents, Hertz is a participant of the Plugless Power EV trial program, in which the companies involved provide feedback on daily usage routines and other information.
The Plugless Power trial, the first of its kind in the world, is aimed at establishing the U.S. as the EV market leader. Plugless Power, developed by Evatran, utilizes inductive power transfer, streamlining the charging of electric vehicles by eliminating the cord and the plug.
The NYAS display will be at the Jacob Javits Center.
With a fleet of 12 Teslas, Southern California-based Tesloop is increasing access to the semi-autonomous, zero-emissions vehicles.
