Due to the high volume of offenders who use rental cars to commit crimes, the Rockford Police Department in the state of Illonois is trying to open up lines of communication with rental companies, according to a recent article on WREX.com.
The Rockford Police Department wants to ensure that rental car companies will notify authorities when their vehicles are involved in a crime. When an incident goes unreported, it makes it difficult for the police department to quickly collect evidence and makes it difficult to track down the renter, Sgt. Carla Redd told WREX.com.
