According to Channel News Asia, a man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison after he was involved in a car rental scam in Singapore.

Ngiu Ah Peng, 39, received several responses for a fake car rental package he advertised in various newspapers that said his supposed company would rent out vehicles during the Hari Raya period, which signifies the end of the Ramadan holiday, from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1.

Customers deposited between $300 and $600, but when they went to pick up their rented vehicles, the company was closed and they could not reach Peng. Peng committed a total of 151 offences, cheating more than a hundred people of a total of $30,000.
