According to Fox News Latino, Mexico City launched the auto rental program, the Carrot Shared Automobile System, in order to reduce traffic and pollution.

After paying $21 for a membership card, users can rent a car for $6.40 per hour and drop if off at certain locations in the city.

Mexico authorities aim to potentially replace 40,000 vehicles in circulation with low-cost fuel-efficient vehicles.
