The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) is urging more auto manufacturers to sign up for ReCare, a new and free electronic vehicle safety recall system for rental car companies that has launched in the UK. The system shows a fleet which vehicles are subject to a safety recall by matching the manufacturer’s VIN-based recall data to the fleet’s vehicles.

So far, Ford, Fiat, Mazda, Chevrolet and Volvo have signed up for the ReCare system, and several of BVRLA’s rental and leasing members are now using it, according to the BVRLA’s August/September newsletter.

The BVRLA has been working with technology company Ebbon-Dacs on the system for the last year, the association said.
