AllCar Rent-A-Car pledged to not rent out vehicles subject to a manufacturer safety recall, supporting legislation that would legally enforce companies to better monitor the safety of their rental fleets.

AllCar has joined Enterprise Holdings, Hertz Corp., Avis Budget Group and Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group in the agreement that was reached with Sens. Charles Schumer and Barbara Boxer.

"Under current law, car dealerships are banned from selling vehicles that have been deemed unsafe; the same should be expected of rental agencies," said AllCar President and CEO Gil Cygler.
