According to RGJ.com, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is opposed to a proposed increase to the Washoe County rental car tax to help refinance a $55 million construction loan for Aces Ballpark.

The Reno City Council is scheduled to hear a presentation and possibly vote on the increase in its regular city council meeting today. 

Currently, the car rental tax is generating enough money to pay off one of two Washoe County-issued bonds that were used to build the ballpark facility.

The airport authority said the car rental tax increase could slow tourist spending in the region. Car rentals account for about 18% of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s $43.5 million budget, according to the article.
