Winnipeg-based Peg City Car Co-op in Canada received the third place prize of $10,000 in a contest put on by The Co-operators insurance company.

The company won the award in “The National Co-op Challenge” for Canada’s western region because of its car sharing initiative in Winnipeg, according to an announcement from The Co-operators on its Facebook page.

Peg City said it will use the funds to expand its fleet to include 11 vehicles and reach 400 members over the next two years, according to an article on ChrisD.ca.

First place and the top $30,000 prize in the western region went to Good Food Junction Co-operative.
