Drive.SG, Singapore-based online direct sell platform for car rental companies, gained $163,065 of seed funding from private investor John Tan, according to e27 on Jan. 7.

The online direct sell platform for car rental companies will use the investment to create an app for its mobile users. Drive.SG currently uses a mobile-optimized website, but aims to reach more markets and increase conversion rates with the mobile app.

The company said it will also use the money to expand internationally in roughly three years. Rebranding for the internationalization is also part of the funding plans.

Tan became interested in Drive.SG for its domain after discovering the company at Echelon 2012 Startup Marketplace. Tan is also an investor in Chope, Impulseflyer, 8 Villages and Payroll Hero.

Drive.SG was first introduced in 2010 to simplify the rental process. The service allows consumers to rent directly from the local rental companies in real-time without having to call to check the availability of a vehicle. Renters can also search and compare offerings.
