With the help of Michael Meyer of Rate-Highway Inc. and Jim Tennant of The Tennant Group, Auto Rental News publishes monthly auto rental rate surveys for six major cities. This survey is dated Nov. 8. Analysis and commentary provided by Jim Tennant of The Tennant Group.

In the monthly six-city analysis for October, rates showed a normal seasonal decline, though rebounded at the end of the month to rival the best in September.

October rates were down slightly from September, but showed a nice uptick toward the end of the month with the Oct. 28 pull (for pickup 2 to 3 weeks out) at the same level as the best pulls in September.

Rates are an average of aggregator/OTA rates for all vendors present in the markets listed on the date of the survey. These tables and graph show the average of all base rate quotes per day for an ICAR at the 6 airports shown, for arrivals 15 to 21 days ahead of the date of the survey, for 2 and 7 day rentals. If the arrival date is a Friday or Saturday, the 2 day rate will be a weekend rate, otherwise it will be a regular rate.

Looking at September to October by city, Boston, Houston and Seattle fell off, Chicago and Los Angeles were relatively flat and Miami showed a major increase.
