car2Go celebrated their 100th day of operating in Washington, D.C. on July 20 by introducing 100 additional smart fortwo cars to its fleet and more parking throughout the District.

Since March, car2go has been operating in Washington D.C. with a fleet of 200 vehicles, which now increased to 300, and free parking in any legal space throughout the District. car2go also added designated parking spaces in eight parking garages throughout the city.

car2go has grown to include 8,500 members in the past 100 days, making Washington D.C. the fastest-growing car2go city, the company reported. The members use the service an average of 4,200 times per week in total.

“When it comes to car sharing, the cars must be readily available for members to use when they need it, where they need it, for as long as they need it,” said car2go North America President and CEO Nicholas Cole. “The car2go on-demand model of car sharing delivers in both convenience and flexibility, and the people in Washington, D.C. are quickly recognizing that.”
