CarTrawler, an online global car rental platform, has announced the appointment of Mark Schwab as its senior advisor.

Schwab served as chief executive of Star Alliance, a global airline network, from 2012 to 2016. During his tenure, Schwab and his team focused on creating in-house technology to enable their members to integrate and operate together across different technologies.

Before joining Star Alliance in 2012, Schwab held many positions within the airline industry. Most recently, he was responsible for alliance activities at United Airlines, where he served as senior vice president of alliances. Previously, he also held management positions at US Airways and American Airlines.

“Mark’s appointment to CarTrawler brings an abundance of experience that will prove invaluable to CarTrawler and our future expansion,” said Mike McGearty, CarTrawler’s chief executive. “We are looking forward to Mark joining CarTrawler as senior advisor and supporting the leadership team with insightful guidance as the business continues to grow and enhance the ancillary earning capability of our partners.”

“CarTrawler offers its partners a remarkable product that is supported by an exceptional team of people,” said Schwab. “By providing the world’s leading airlines and travel companies with an end-to-end transport technology solution, the company has grown significantly over the last number of years. CarTrawler has a clear roadmap for continued growth, to which I look forward to contributing."
