Nissan and Dongfeng are also reportedly in talks to design and build custom vehicles for Didi's ride-hailing platform.
In March 2019, Didi was selected as the taxi-hailing app with the highest user satisfaction in the Osaka area.
The appointments follow a report by China's Ministry for Transport which concluded that the company's "management of people and vehicles is out of control."
During an investigation into Didi Chuxing's operations, China's Ministry of Transport found Didi violated multiple safety rules, including failing to flag "high risk drivers and improperly handling deposits."
The inspection came as a result of two accounts of alleged rape and murder on the ride-hailing app Didi Chuxing, which sparked national outrage and a public apology from the company’s senior management.
Using advanced mobile internet solutions, the new platform seeks to help taxi companies create more efficient transportation routes, enhance user satisfaction, and increase demand for taxi services.
The nationwide inspections come as a response to the recent deaths of two female passengers on the ride-hailing platform Didi Chuxing.
In a statement, Didi said it was “immensely saddened by the tragedy” and that two senior managers have been removed from their positions.
Beginning June 22, Didi Chuxing will be piloting an in-app feature that will allow passengers to share their route and destination with emergency contacts.
The announcement comes following death of a passenger using Didi Chuxing’s carpooling feature earlier this month.
