The recall includes more than 414,000 Jeep Liberty, Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger vehicles in the U.S. in the 2012 and 2013 model years.
The recall, set to get under way Nov. 7, covers more than 646,000 vehicles in the 2011 to 2014 model years.
The owners of more than 441,000 Dodge Charger sedans will receive wheel chocks to provide extra stability during wheel changes involving a tire jack.
The automaker reached an agreement with NHTSA relating to how the company conducted vehicle recalls, and will buy back almost 580,000 trucks.
Chrysler is recalling 435,581 2011-2014 model-year vehicles including the Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
