Effective July 1, HB 420 allows the MDTA to issue a $50 citation if a toll goes unpaid for 30 days after receiving notice of the toll due. Failure to pay or contest the citation may lead to suspended registration.
Maryland Proposal Aims to Decrease Number of Unpaid Tolls
A proposal was introduced in Maryland that would allow the Maryland Transportation Authority to give drivers a 30-day period to pay their toll or receive a $50 citation. The Authority said it is working with rental car companies to come up with a solution for unpaid tolls accrued by their customers.
