We have just cancelled 26 hotel rooms and a small meeting room for 42 individuals. We also cancelled 17 rental cars from Hertz. I transferred the meeting to Ft. Lauderdale and will save over $1200. Thank u Hawaii.

This will only impact rentals NOT at the airport. All airport customers will be paying the same.

Chris... Not true. I just rented a car thru Avis at the airport and the surcharge was $7.50 per day, up from $3.00.

Rented from Thrifty $7.50 for HI and 1.50 for collecting frequent flier miles = $9.00/day surcharge

I am in the business in Hawaii. surcharge effects all rentals and tour operators, it's a brutal increase and really hurts business here.
