Zipcar Pulls Recalled 2010 Toyota Prius from Fleet
In addition to removing the 2010 Toyota Prius from its fleet, Zipcar has also removed the 2009 and 2010 Toyota Matrix.
Zipcar Inc., a car-sharing service, announced that the company will not allow reservations for the recall-affected 2010 Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles in the Zipcar fleet until the brake concerns have been addressed appropriately by Toyota. This recall impacts less than 1 percent of the Zipcar fleet.
Zipcar will continue to monitor the recall closely and follow Toyota's recommendations and resolution. If Zipsters have questions about upcoming Zipcar reservations, they should contact Member Services at 1-866-4ZIPCAR (1-866-494-7227).
Zipcar previously announced the removal of the 2009 and 2010 Toyota Matrix models due to a safety recall. Repairs on affected 2009 and 2010 Toyota Matrix models continues to progress, with the first repaired units already back in service. The remainder of the recalled Toyota Matrix units are expected to be returned to Zipcar service by mid-February. All work is being verified by Toyota and tracked in Zipcar's vehicle management system before vehicles are returned to service.
